Some summer days are just perfect. Everything seems to come together in such a way that you can’t imagine being more content or possibly enjoying any other season or time with your family. To have two such days in a row is a true gift.
This weekend we had such incredible weather and fun – perfect temperatures, pure blue skies, and time spent with family and friends. We did so much, but not at any point did I feel overwhelmed or like we were doing too much (though today we’re staying home – nothing will move me from this place!).
Saturday was spent picking strawberries at Pietree Orchards in the morning, making ice cream in the afternoon, and then heading to my sister-in-law’s home for her baby’s gender reveal party (I’m so excited to become an auntie again!).
As Saturday ended with a party, Sunday began with one, as we joined friends at Range State Park for a birthday party for two little friends. We had a lovely time swimming in the (very) warm water, sharing a picnic and having cake. Right after the party we drove to my parents, who live just by Long Lake, took a long boat ride, had another swim, and then ate some really yummy homemade pizza.
Summer is so fleeting here in Maine that for every wonderful day we have, I feel as though it’s worth at least two during the rest of the year. As much as I value a low key, slow moving summer, the days where we don’t see home from breakfast to bedtime still feel refreshing in their own way and do make those days at home all the sweeter.
